# Yobuko, Saga

**Yobuko** ([呼子町](https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%25E5%2591%25BC%25E5%25AD%2590%25E7%2594%25BA), *Yobuko-chō*) was a [town](/source/List_of_towns_in_Japan) in [Karatsu](/source/Karatsu,_Saga). As of 2003, the town had an estimated [population](/source/Population_(human_biology)) of 5,895 and a [density](/source/Population_density) of 809.75 persons per km2. The total area was 7.28 km2.

Until January 1, 2005, Yobuko was part of the [Higashimatsuura District](/source/Higashimatsuura_District,_Saga) of [Saga Prefecture](/source/Saga_Prefecture), [Japan](/source/Japan). Yobuko, along with the towns of [Chinzei](/source/Chinzei,_Saga), [Hamatama](/source/Hamatama,_Saga), [Hizen](/source/Hizen,_Saga), [Kyūragi](/source/Ky%C5%ABragi,_Saga) and [Ōchi](/source/%C5%8Cchi,_Saga), and the village of [Kitahata](/source/Kitahata,_Saga) (all from [Higashimatsuura District](/source/Higashimatsuura_District,_Saga)), was then merged into the expanded city of [Karatsu](/source/Karatsu,_Saga).[1]

- Keisuke Kinoshita's award-winning film Fireworks over the Sea was both filmed and set in Yobuko.
