Located in the [Hevel Shalom](/source/Hevel_Shalom) area of the north-western [Negev](/source/Negev) desert near the [Gaza Strip](/source/Gaza_Strip)–[Egypt](/source/Egypt) border, it falls under the jurisdiction of [Eshkol Regional Council](/source/Eshkol_Regional_Council). The village was established in 1981 by evacuees from [Sinai](/source/Sinai_Peninsula).<ref name="mapa">{{Cite book
