**Yecuatla** is a [municipality](/source/Municipalities_of_Veracruz) located in the north zone in the [Mexican state](/source/List_of_states_of_Mexico) of [Veracruz](/source/Veracruz), about 40 km from the state capital [Xalapa](/source/Xalapa). It has a surface of 135.72 km2. It is located at [19°52′N 96°47′W / 19.867°N 96.783°W / 19.867; -96.783](https://geohack.toolforge.org/geohack.php?pagename=Yecuatla&params=19_52_N_96_47_W_).

## Name

The name comes from the language Náhuatl, Yec-uauh-tlan; that means "Place of three snakes".

## Geography

The municipality of **Yecuatla** is bordered to the north-east by [Colipa](/source/Colipa_(municipality)), to the south by [Chiconquiaco](/source/Chiconquiaco), to the west by [Misantla](/source/Misantla_(municipality)) and to the north-west by [Colipa](/source/Colipa_(municipality)).[1]

The climate in Yecuatla is warm-regular with an average temperature of 22.5°C, with rains in summer and autumn.

## Agriculture

It produces principally [maize](/source/Maize), [bean](/source/Bean), [green chile](/source/Green_chile), [orange fruit](/source/Orange_fruit) and [coffee](/source/Coffee).

## Celebrations

Every Augusts, a festival is held to celebrate Virgen de la Asunción, patron of the town and in December there is a festival held in honor of the [Virgin of Guadalupe](/source/Virgin_of_Guadalupe).
