The **Yazghulom** ([/ˌjæzɡʊˈlɒm/](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA/English) [*YAZ-guu-LOM*](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Pronunciation_respelling_key))[a] is a river in [Vanj district](/source/Vanj_district), western [Gorno-Badakhshan](/source/Gorno-Badakhshan), [Tajikistan](/source/Tajikistan).[3] It is a right tributary of the [Panj](/source/Panj) (upper [Oxus](/source/Oxus)). The river is 80 kilometres (50 mi) long and has a basin area of 1,970 square kilometres (760 mi2).[4]

It flows in a narrow valley or gorge from northeast to southwest, between two high mountain ranges, the [Vanj Range](/source/Vanj_Range) to the north and the [Yazgulem Range](/source/Yazgulem_Range) to the south. Its headwaters are near the [Fedchenko Glacier](/source/Fedchenko_Glacier). Settlements in the valley include Motrawn, Budun, Andarbag and Zhamag. The [Yazghulami](/source/Yazgulyam_language) inhabitants number about 4,000 (as of 1990, estimate for 1940 is about 2,000).

In 1996 during the [Tajik civil war](/source/Tajikistan_Civil_War), there was some fighting in Yazghulom Gorge between Yazghulami mujahiddin and Tajik troops.
