Mountain ridge in the country of Canada

Yagi Ridge Yagi Ridge Location in British Columbia Highest point Elevation 2,243 m (7,359 ft)[1] Coordinates 57°23′53.06″N 130°41′51.26″W / 57.3980722°N 130.6975722°W / 57.3980722; -130.6975722[1] Geography Country Canada Province British Columbia District Cassiar Land District[2] Parent range Spectrum Range[3] Topo map NTS 104G7 Mess Lake[2]

**Yagi Ridge** is a [mountain](/source/Mountain) [ridge](/source/Ridge) extending northwest from the middle of the [Spectrum Range](/source/Spectrum_Range) at the southern end of the [Mount Edziza volcanic complex](/source/Mount_Edziza_volcanic_complex) in northwestern [British Columbia](/source/British_Columbia), Canada. It is bounded on the north by Nagha Glacier and [Nagha Creek](/source/Nagha_Creek) valley, on the south by Yeda Creek on the [Arctic Lake Plateau](/source/Arctic_Lake_Plateau) and on the west by [Mess Creek](/source/Mess_Creek) valley.[4] Yagi Ridge reaches an elevation of 2,243 metres (7,359 feet) at the head of Nagha Glacier where its eastern end adjoins to the Spectrum Range just northwest of [Yeda Peak](/source/Yeda_Peak).[1][4]

The ridge is at the southern end of [Mount Edziza Provincial Park](/source/Mount_Edziza_Provincial_Park) and is named after [Kenzō Yagi](/source/Kenz%C5%8D_Yagi), a Japanese [volcanologist](/source/Volcanologist) who traversed it with Canadian volcanologist [Jack Souther](/source/Jack_Souther) during a visit to Canada in 1966.[2][5] Yagi also means [mountain goat](/source/Mountain_goat) in the Japanese language which exist in abundance around the ridge.[5]

## Geology

The base of Yagi Ridge is covered with glacial, [talus](/source/Scree) and landslide deposits. The oldest rocks comprising the ridge are [Miocene](/source/Miocene) [alkali basalt](/source/Alkali_basalt) flows of the [Raspberry Formation](/source/Raspberry_Formation) which are exposed on its southwestern side. Overlying the Raspberry Formation are [Pliocene](/source/Pliocene) alkali basalt flows of the Kounugu Member of the [Nido Formation](/source/Nido_Formation) which are exposed on the western and southwestern sides of Yagi Ridge. The dominant rocks comprising Yagi Ridge are Pliocene [comendite](/source/Comendite), [pantellerite](/source/Pantellerite) and pantelleritic [trachyte](/source/Trachyte) of the Spectrum Formation which are mainly in the form of [lava domes](/source/Lava_dome) and lava flows; [hydrothermally altered](/source/Hydrothermally_altered) vent [breccia](/source/Breccia) overlies these [volcanic rocks](/source/Volcanic_rock) locally.[4]
