It is unclear whether this genus should be classified in the lower or higher epidendroids. [*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*]

*Xerorchis* has 8 [pollinia](/source/Pollinium), hence similar to the more advanced epidendroid genera of [Epidendreae](/source/Epidendreae) and [Arethuseae](/source/Arethuseae). Yet its [morphology](/source/Morphology_(biology)), with unthickened [stems](/source/Plant_stem) and persistent [leaves](/source/Leaf), is that of a [bambusoid](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Bambusoid&action=edit&redlink=1) [grass](/source/Grass) and makes it more similar to [Tropidieae](/source/Tropidieae) or [Triphoreae](/source/Triphoreae).
