'''Wyllie Colliery''' was located in the [Sirhowy Valley](/source/Sirhowy_Valley), [South Wales](/source/South_Wales).

The [coal mine](/source/coal_mine) was sunk by the [Tredegar Iron and Coal Company](/source/Tredegar_Iron_and_Coal_Company) and opened in 1926. The colliery was named after a director of the company, Alexander Wyllie. [Wyllie](/source/Wyllie%2C_Caerphilly) village was built to house many of the miners working at the pit. There were two shafts, North and South, both {{cvt|636|yard}} deep.<ref name="WCM, Wyllie" />

The colliery remained open for only 42 years before closing in 1968.<ref name="WCM, Wyllie" />
