**Wylie Watson** (6 February 1889 – 3 May 1966) (born **John Wylie Robertson**)[1] was a Scottish actor.[2] Among his best-known roles were those of "Mr Memory", an amazing man who commits "50 new facts to his memory every day" in [Alfred Hitchcock](/source/Alfred_Hitchcock)'s film *[The 39 Steps](/source/The_39_Steps_(1935_film))* (1935),[3] and wily storekeeper Joseph Macroon in the [Ealing comedy](/source/Ealing_comedy) *[Whisky Galore!](/source/Whisky_Galore!_(1949_film))* (1949). He emigrated to Australia in 1952, and made his final film appearance there in *[The Sundowners](/source/The_Sundowners_(1960_film))* (1960).
