**Wouter Abts** (in French, **Gautier Abts**) was a Flemish painter, born at [Lier](/source/Lier,_Belgium), near [Antwerp](/source/Antwerp), possibly in 1582.[1] He was a pupil of [Willem de Vos](/source/Willem_de_Vos_(painter)) (Guillaume de Vos in French).[2] Little is known about his life.[3] He was admitted as a master to the [Guild](/source/Guild_of_Saint_Luke) at Antwerp in 1604–5; and he died in 1642–43. He mainly painted genre pieces, but a winter landscape has been attributed to him.[4] He taught [Adrian de Bie](/source/Adrian_de_Bie) and [Lenaert Coomans](/source/Lenaert_Coomans).[5]
