It was serialized in [Shogakukan](/source/Shogakukan)'s [*seinen* manga](/source/Seinen_manga) magazine *[Big Comic Spirits](/source/Big_Comic_Spirits)* from 1982 to 1986. A five-episode [original video animation](/source/Original_video_animation) (OVA) adaptation produced by [Madhouse](/source/Madhouse_(company)) and [Magic Bus](/source/Magic_Bus_(studio)) and directed by Toshio Takeuchi was released from July 1986 to August 1988.

Written by [Kazuo Koike](/source/Kazuo_Koike) and illustrated by [Ryoichi Ikegami](/source/Ryoichi_Ikegami), *Wounded Man* was serialized in [Shogakukan](/source/Shogakukan)'s [*seinen* manga](/source/Seinen_manga) magazine *[Big Comic Spirits](/source/Big_Comic_Spirits)* from 1982 to 1986.[1] Shogakukan collected its chapters in eleven *[tankōbon](/source/Tank%C5%8Dbon)* volumes.[2]

[ComicsOne](/source/ComicsOne) published the manga in English in 9 volumes.[3]

### OVA

A 5-episode [original video animation](/source/Original_video_animation) (OVA) adaptation, produced by [Madhouse](/source/Madhouse_(company)) and [Magic Bus](/source/Magic_Bus_(studio)),[4][5] was released from July 5, 1986, to August 25, 1988.[6] It was directed by [Yoshio Takeuchi](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Yoshio_Takeuchi&action=edit&redlink=1) [[ja](https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E7%AB%B9%E5%86%85%E5%95%93%E9%9B%84)] (first episode) and [Satoshi Dezaki](/source/Satoshi_Dezaki) (episodes 2–5), written by Kazumi Koide and the music was composed by Norimasa Yamanaka.[7][8][9][10][11]
