**Worting** is a former village and now a district of [Basingstoke](/source/Basingstoke), in the [Basingstoke and Deane](/source/Basingstoke_and_Deane) district, in [Hampshire](/source/Hampshire), England. It was formed around 1970 as part of the Basingstoke Town Centre Development Plan. The area is bounded to the south by [Hatch Warren](/source/Hatch_Warren) and [Worting Junction](/source/Worting_Junction). To the east are the districts of [Brighton Hill](/source/Brighton_Hill) and the Cranbourne area.

## History

In 1931, the [civil parish](/source/Civil_parish) had a population of 365.[1] On 1 April 1932, the parish was abolished and merged with Basingstoke and [Wootton St Lawrence](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wootton_St_Lawrence_with_Ramsdell&action=edit&redlink=1).[2] It is now in the [unparished area](/source/Unparished_area) of Basingstoke.
