**Worden** is an [unincorporated community](/source/Unincorporated_area) in [Klamath County](/source/Klamath_County,_Oregon), [Oregon](/source/Oregon), United States. It is about 14 miles (23 km) south of [Klamath Falls](/source/Klamath_Falls,_Oregon) and 3 miles (5 km) north of the Oregon–[California](/source/California) border on [U.S. Route 97](/source/U.S._Route_97_in_Oregon).[2]

## History

The [townsite](/source/Townsite) of Worden was purchased and laid out by William S. Worden, a member of a family of early Klamath County settlers.[3][4] William Worden was a right-of-way agent for the [Southern Pacific Railroad](/source/Southern_Pacific_Transportation_Company) (SP) during the time SP predecessor [Oregon Eastern Railway](/source/Oregon_Eastern_Railway) was building a railroad into Klamath Falls.[3] He was later elected Klamath County judge.[3] Worden station near [Dallas](/source/Dallas,_Oregon) in [Polk County](/source/Polk_County,_Oregon) on the SP [Falls City](/source/Falls_City,_Oregon) Line may have also been named for William Worden.[3] Worden post office was established in 1910.[3]

As of 1990, Worden had a 24-hour café and truck stop.[5]
