# Woodbridge Metcalf

American sailor

**Woodbridge "Woody" Metcalf** (June 23, 1888 in [Grosse Pointe](/source/Grosse_Pointe), [Michigan](/source/Michigan) – July 11, 1972 in [Berkeley](/source/Berkeley%2C_California), [California](/source/California)) was an American [forester](/source/Forester) and Olympic sailor in the [Star class](/source/Star_(sailboat)). He competed in the [1932 Summer Olympics](/source/1932_Summer_Olympics) together with [William Glenn Waterhouse](/source/William_Glenn_Waterhouse), where they finished 5th.[1] He is also known for his work in [forest conservation](/source/Forest_conservation) and as a photographer of the forests and trees of [California](/source/California).[2]

## Honors

Metcalf received the Nash Merit Award Certificate in 1954.[2]
