# Wittensee

**Wittensee** was an *[Amt](/source/Amt_(subnational_entity))* ("collective municipality") in the district of [Rendsburg-Eckernförde](/source/Rendsburg-Eckernf%C3%B6rde), in [Schleswig-Holstein](/source/Schleswig-Holstein), [Germany](/source/Germany). It was named after the lake Wittensee, which is situated in the *Amt*. It was located between [Eckernförde](/source/Eckernf%C3%B6rde) and [Rendsburg](/source/Rendsburg). The village Groß Wittensee was the seat of the *Amt*.

In January 2008, it was merged with the *Amt* Wittensee to form the *Amt* [Hüttener Berge](/source/H%C3%BCttener_Berge_(Amt)).[1]

The *Amt* Wittensee consisted of the following municipalities:
