# Wisdom Mike

**Wisdom Okpako Mike** (ˈwɪzdəm ˈmaɪk; born 24 September 2008) is a German professional [footballer](/source/Association_football) who plays as a [winger](/source/Midfielder#Winger) for club [Bayern Munich](/source/FC_Bayern_Munich). He is a [German youth international](/source/Germany_national_youth_football_team).

## Club career

### Bayern Munich

As a youth player, Mike joined the youth academy of [MSV Duisburg](/source/MSV_Duisburg). In 2019, he joined the youth academy of [Bundesliga](/source/Bundesliga) side [Borussia Mönchengladbach](/source/Borussia_M%C3%B6nchengladbach). At the age of thirteen, he was transferred to the [youth academy](/source/FC_Bayern_Munich_Junior_Team) of fellow Bundesliga side [Bayern Munich](/source/FC_Bayern_Munich) in 2022.[1]

On 7 February 2025, ahead of the second half of the [season](/source/2024%E2%80%9325_FC_Bayern_Munich_season), while playing for both the [under-17](/source/FC_Bayern_Munich_Junior_Team), with whom he had scored 13 goals during 11 matches played at the moment, and the [under-19](/source/FC_Bayern_Munich_Junior_Team) sides, Mike being 16 years old, was called up with the Bayern Munich senior team for a 3–0 home win Bundesliga match against [Werder Bremen](/source/SV_Werder_Bremen), as an unused substitute however.[2]

On 11 June 2025, Bayern Munich announced their 32-player final squad for the [FIFA Club World Cup](/source/2025_FIFA_Club_World_Cup), which included Mike.[3]

He was one of the players that were called up by Bayern Munich head coach [Vincent Kompany](/source/Vincent_Kompany), for the [2025](/source/2025%E2%80%9326_FC_Bayern_Munich_season#Pre-season_and_friendlies) pre-season matches against French [Ligue 1](/source/Ligue_1) club [Lyon](/source/Olympique_Lyonnais), English [Premier League](/source/Premier_League) club [Tottenham Hotspur](/source/Tottenham_Hotspur_F.C), and [Swiss Super League](/source/Swiss_Super_League) club [Grasshopper](/source/Grasshopper_Club_Zurich), on 2, 7, and 12 August 2025, respectively.[4][5] On 8 August, he extended his contract with the club, alongside his teammate [Lennart Karl](/source/Lennart_Karl).[6]

Mike made his professional debut with [Bayern Munich II](/source/FC_Bayern_Munich_II) on 23 August 2025, coming off the bench and scoring a goal for a 2–2 home draw [Regionalliga Bayern](/source/Regionalliga_Bayern) match against [SpVgg Bayreuth](/source/SpVgg_Bayreuth).[7]

On 26 September 2025, he made his debut with the Bayern Munich senior team during a 4–0 home win Bundesliga match against Werder Bremen, substituting [Luis Díaz](/source/Luis_D%C3%ADaz_(footballer,_born_1997)).[8] A month later, on 22 October, he made his [UEFA Champions League](/source/UEFA_Champions_League) debut in a 4–0 win over [Belgian Pro League](/source/Belgian_Pro_League) club [Club Brugge](/source/Club_Brugge_KV).[9]

Mike was called up as a starter for the 5–0 win friendly match against [Austrian Bundesliga](/source/Austrian_Football_Bundesliga) club [Red Bull Salzburg](/source/FC_Red_Bull_Salzburg) on 6 January 2026.[10]

## International career

Born in Germany, Mike is of [Nigerian](/source/Nigeria) descent and is eligible to represent Germany and Nigeria internationally.

He has represented Germany at the [under-15](/source/Germany_national_under-15_football_team), [under-16](/source/Germany_national_under-16_football_team) and [under-17](/source/Germany_national_under-17_football_team) levels internationally.

## Style of play

Mike plays as a [winger](/source/Midfielder#Winger) and is two-footed, he can also be deployed as a [forward](/source/Forward_(association_football)). Known for his speed and dribbling ability, he has received comparisons to [France](/source/France_national_football_team) international [Ousmane Dembélé](/source/Ousmane_Demb%C3%A9l%C3%A9).[11]
