From 1971 the site was also used for [air traffic control](/source/air_traffic_control),<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.british-history.ac.uk/vch/glos/vol11/pp145-147|title=Winstone: Introduction &#124; British History Online|website=www.british-history.ac.uk}}</ref> with a transmitter mast operated by [NATS Holdings](/source/NATS_Holdings) about half a mile north-east of the village.
