Gordon was born in [Lambeth](/source/London_Borough_of_Lambeth), London. The following year he won his third British title, this time at half-heavyweight.<ref name=BJC/>

In 2006, he won the bronze medal at the [2006 European Judo Championships](/source/2006_European_Judo_Championships) in Tampere, before gaining selection for a second Olympic Games in 2008. At the [games](/source/Judo_at_the_2008_Summer_Olympics) he competed in the [men's 90kg](/source/Judo_at_the_2008_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Men's_90_kg) class.
