The '''Windshaft''' is a [part](/source/Mill_machinery) in a [windmill](/source/windmill) that carries the sails and also the [brake wheel](/source/brake_wheel) (Smock and Tower mills, and in some Post mills) or the [head wheel](/source/head_wheel) and [tail wheel](/source/tail_wheel_(Post_Mill)) in a Post Mill.
