# William Sowode

**William Sowode**, [D.D.](/source/Doctor_of_Divinity) was a priest and academic in the first half of the sixteenth century.[1]

Sowood was born in [Norfolk](/source/Norfolk). He was educated at [Corpus Christi College, Cambridge](/source/Corpus_Christi_College%2C_Cambridge), graduating [B.A.](/source/Bachelor_of_Arts) in 1508; [MA](/source/Master_of_Arts_(Oxbridge_and_Dublin)) in 1511; and [B.D.](/source/Bachelor_of_Divinity) in 1523. He became [Fellow](/source/Fellow) in 1508; and [Master](/source/Master_(college))[2] in 1523.He held [livings](/source/Living_(Christianity)) at [Madingley](/source/Madingley) and [Landbeach](/source/Landbeach). He died on 29 November 1544.
