He started his cricket career playing county cricket with [Warwickshire](/source/Warwickshire_County_Cricket_Club), for whom he played five [first-class](/source/first-class_cricket) matches between [1909](/source/1909_English_cricket_season) and [1910](/source/1910_English_cricket_season). He then played three first-class matches for [Ireland](/source/Irish_cricket_team) against [Scotland](/source/Scottish_cricket_team) between 1911 and 1914, which are his only games for Ireland. He also played [minor counties](/source/Minor_counties_of_English_cricket) cricket for [Northumberland](/source/Northumberland_County_Cricket_Club) and [Devon](/source/Devon_County_Cricket_Club).
