# William Edwin Price

**William Edwin Price** (10 January 1841 – 10 February 1886)[1] was an English [Liberal Party](/source/Liberal_Party_(UK)) politician who sat in the [House of Commons](/source/House_of_Commons_of_the_United_Kingdom) from 1868 to 1880.

Price was the son of [William Philip Price](/source/William_Philip_Price), M.P. for Gloucester and his wife Frances Ann Chadborn, daughter of John Chadborn of Gloucester. He was educated at [Eton College](/source/Eton_College), at [University College, London](/source/University_College,_London) graduating BA in 1859, and at the [Royal Military Academy, Woolwich](/source/Royal_Military_Academy,_Woolwich). He served in the 36th Regiment of Foot until his retirement in February 1865. He was a captain of the Royal South Gloucester Militia, and of the 3rd Gloucester City Rifle Volunteers.[2]

At the [1868 general election](/source/1868_United_Kingdom_general_election) Price was elected as the [Member of Parliament](/source/Member_of_Parliament_(United_Kingdom)) for the [borough of Tewkesbury](/source/Tewkesbury_(UK_Parliament_constituency)).[3] He was re-elected in [1874](/source/1874_United_Kingdom_general_election)[4] and [at the general election in April 1880](/source/1880_United_Kingdom_general_election)[5] but his election was declared void on 29 June 1880.[1]

Price died at the age of 45.

His son [Morgan Philips Price](/source/Morgan_Philips_Price) was later a (Labour) M.P.
