**Willem Nico Potma** (born 12 March 1969 in [Sneek](/source/Sneek)) is a [sailor](/source/Sailing_(sport)) from the Netherlands,[1] who represented his country at the [1992 Summer Olympics](/source/Sailing_at_the_1992_Summer_Olympics) in Barcelona. Potma as helmsman in the Dutch [Flying Dutchman](/source/Sailing_at_the_1992_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Flying_Dutchman) with his brother [Gerhard Potma](/source/Gerhard_Potma) as crew took the 18th place.[2][3][4] In [1996](/source/Sailing_at_the_1996_Summer_Olympics) Potma returned to the Olympics in [Savannah](/source/Savannah%2C_Georgia). Again with his brother and [Frank Hettinga](/source/Frank_Hettinga) as crew. Potma took 15th place in the [Soling](/source/Sailing_at_the_1996_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Soling).

## Professional life

Potma has an education in retail business. He now works as a self-employed sailmaker.[5]
