==Early life==
Harding attended [Klein High School](/source/Klein_High_School) in [Spring, Texas](/source/Spring%2C_Texas) and was a student and a [letterman](/source/Letterman_(sports)) in [football](/source/American_football). In [football](/source/High_school_football), he was an All-Conference selection and an All-[Greater Houston](/source/Greater_Houston) selection. He attended [Iowa State University](/source/Iowa_State_University), where he played [defense](/source/Defense_(sport)) on the school's [football](/source/College_football) team. He majored in English.

==Playing career==
In his playing career, he was a [defensive specialist](/source/defensive_specialist) for the Iowa Barnstormers (now the Dragons), the former [Nashville Kats](/source/Nashville_Kats) (now the [Georgia Force](/source/Georgia_Force)), the now-defunct [Portland Forest Dragons](/source/Portland_Forest_Dragons), and the Buffalo Destroyers (now the [Columbus Destroyers](/source/Columbus_Destroyers)). He retired as a player in 2000.

==Coaching career==
At the start of the [2005 season](/source/2005_Arena_Football_League_season), Harding's first year leading the Dragons, he was 33 years old, making him the second youngest head coach in the history of the league. He had previously worked in the [Buffalo Destroyers](/source/Buffalo_Destroyers) organization starting in [2000](/source/2000_Arena_Football_League_season). After the Destroyers moved to [Columbus, Ohio](/source/Columbus%2C_Ohio) he became the team's [defensive coordinator](/source/defensive_coordinator) in [2002](/source/2002_Arena_Football_League_season) and returned in [2004](/source/2004_Arena_Football_League_season).
