# Western blue devil

The **western blue devil** (***Paraplesiops sinclairi***) is a species of fish in the longfin family [Plesiopidae](/source/Plesiopidae) endemic to [Western Australia](/source/Western_Australia).[1] The fish is found in rocky reef habitats in the coastal, inshore waters of southwestern Western Australia, from the [Recherche Archipelago](/source/Recherche_Archipelago) to [Lancelin](/source/Lancelin,_Western_Australia).[1] The [specific name](/source/Specific_name_(zoology)) was coined as a memorial to the [ichthyologist](/source/Ichthyology) Nicholas Sinclair of the [Australian Museum](/source/Australian_Museum) who was involved in the collection of the [type specimens](/source/Type_(biology)).[2]
