'''West Ham South''' was a [parliamentary constituency](/source/United_Kingdom_constituencies) in the [County Borough of West Ham](/source/County_Borough_of_West_Ham), in what was then [Essex](/source/Essex) but is now [Greater London](/source/Greater_London). It returned one [Member of Parliament](/source/Member_of_Parliament_(United_Kingdom)) (MP) to the [House of Commons](/source/House_of_Commons_of_the_United_Kingdom) of the [Parliament of the United Kingdom](/source/Parliament_of_the_United_Kingdom), elected by the [first-past-the-post](/source/first-past-the-post) voting system.

==Boundaries==
'''1950–1974''': The County Borough of West Ham wards of Beckton Road, Bemersyde, Canning Town and Grange, Custom House and Silvertown, Hudsons, Ordnance, Plaistow, and Tidal Basin.

== History ==
The constituency was created under the [Redistribution of Seats Act 1885](/source/Redistribution_of_Seats_Act_1885) for the [1885 general election](/source/1885_United_Kingdom_general_election), and abolished for the [1918 general election](/source/1918_United_Kingdom_general_election).

It was re-established for the [1950 general election](/source/1950_United_Kingdom_general_election), and abolished again for the [February 1974 general election](/source/February_1974_United_Kingdom_general_election).
