**Wendefurth** is a hamlet in central Germany that, since 1 July 2009, has been part of the borough of [Thale](/source/Thale) district of [Harz](/source/Landkreis_Harz). Previously it belonged to the municipality of [Altenbrak](/source/Altenbrak) which was incorporated into Thale.

## Geographical location

The hamlet, which consists of just a few houses, lies in the [Harz mountains](/source/Harz_mountains) in the deeply incised [Bode Gorge](/source/Bode_Gorge) on the [B 81](/source/Bundesstra%C3%9Fe_81) federal road and was named after a [ford](/source/Ford_(crossing)) that crossed the [River Bode](/source/River_Bode). The [Harz Witches' Path](/source/Harz_Witches'_Path) (*Harzer Hexenstieg*) passes nearby.
