***Water Child*** ([French](/source/French_language): *L'Enfant d'eau*) is a Canadian drama film, directed by [Robert Ménard](/source/Robert_M%C3%A9nard_(director)) and released in 1995.[1] The film stars [David La Haye](/source/David_La_Haye) as Émile, a mentally handicapped young adult who survives a plane crash, finding himself on an otherwise deserted island with Cendrine (Marie-France Monette), a teenage girl.[1]

The film's cast also includes [Gilbert Sicotte](/source/Gilbert_Sicotte), [Danielle Proulx](/source/Danielle_Proulx) and [Monique Spaziani](/source/Monique_Spaziani).

The film received two [Genie Award](/source/Genie_Award) nominations at the [16th Genie Awards](/source/16th_Genie_Awards): [Best Actor](/source/Canadian_Screen_Award_for_Best_Actor) (La Haye) and [Best Original Score](/source/Academy_of_Canadian_Cinema_and_Television_Award_for_Best_Achievement_in_Music_%E2%80%93_Original_Score) ([Richard Grégoire](/source/Richard_Gr%C3%A9goire)).[2] La Haye won the award for Best Actor.[3]
