# Walt Ellis

**Walter Joseph Ellis** (May 26, 1898 – January 31, 1980) was an American professional [football](/source/American_football) [tackle](/source/Tackle_(American_football)) in the [National Football League](/source/National_Football_League).[1][2] He played four seasons for the [Columbus Tigers](/source/Columbus_(NFL)) (1924–1925), [Detroit Panthers](/source/Detroit_Lions#Early_football_in_Detroit_before_the_Lions.2C_1920.E2.80.931928) (1925), and [Chicago Cardinals](/source/Chicago_Cardinals_(NFL,_1920%E2%80%9359)) (1926–1927).[3][4]
