# Walker's tree frog

**Walker's tree frog** (***Dryophytes walkeri***) is a species of [frog](/source/Frog) in the family [Hylidae](/source/Hylidae) found in [Guatemala](/source/Guatemala) and [Mexico](/source/Mexico). Its natural [habitats](/source/Habitat) are highlands of pine-oak forests and pine-fir forests. It is known to occur in [Chiapas](/source/Chiapas) Mexico and in parts of Guatemala including the [Sierra de los Cuchumatanes](/source/Sierra_de_los_Cuchumatanes) mountain range in the west, the [plateaus](/source/Plateau) of central Guatemala, and in southeastern Guatemala.[1][2] However, it is believed that its range is greater than what is currently known.[1] It breeds in temporary ponds, and is threatened by [habitat loss](/source/Habitat_destruction).[1]

It is also found in subtropical or tropical moist [montane forests](/source/Montane_forest), subtropical or tropical seasonally wet or flooded lowland [grassland](/source/Grassland), and intermittent freshwater [marshes](/source/Marsh).[citation needed]
