'''Serine/threonine-protein kinase WNK3''', also known as '''protein kinase lysine-deficient 3''', is a [protein](/source/protein) that in humans is encoded by the ''WNK3'' [gene](/source/gene).<ref name="entrez">{{cite web | title = Entrez Gene: WNK lysine deficient protein kinase 3| url = https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/gene?Db=gene&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch=65267}}</ref>

== Function ==

WNK3 is a protein belonging to the 'with no lysine' family of [serine-threonine protein kinase](/source/serine%2Fthreonine-specific_protein_kinase)s. These family members lack the catalytic [lysine](/source/lysine) in subdomain II, and instead have a conserved lysine in subdomain I. This family member functions as a positive regulator of the transcellular [Ca2+](/source/calcium_in_biology) transport pathway, and it plays a role in the increase of cell survival in a [caspase 3](/source/caspase_3) dependent pathway.<ref name="entrez"/>
