**WHFC** (91.1 [FM](/source/FM_broadcasting)) is a [radio station](/source/Radio_station) broadcasting a [Variety](/source/Variety_(radio)) format. Licensed to [Bel Air, Maryland](/source/Bel_Air%2C_Maryland), [United States](/source/United_States), it serves its native [Harford County](/source/Harford_County%2C_Maryland), the [Baltimore](/source/Baltimore%2C_Maryland) area, as well as northern and central [Maryland](/source/Maryland) and southern [Pennsylvania](/source/Pennsylvania). The station is currently owned by [Harford Community College](/source/Harford_Community_College), and is one of the few college radio stations in Maryland to permit students to hold on air positions. Its [general manager](/source/General_manager) is Terry Trouyet.

As of late 2008, the station's variety format offers [jazz](/source/Jazz), [classical](/source/Classical_music), [adult alternative](/source/Adult_album_alternative), [blues](/source/Blues), [folk](/source/Folk_music) and [new-age music](/source/New-age_music) and local [talk radio](/source/Talk_radio), as well as a wide range of diverse specialty programming such as [Celtic music](/source/Celtic_music), [oldies](/source/Oldies), [bluegrass](/source/Bluegrass_music) and [Golden Age of Radio](/source/Golden_Age_of_Radio) shows. In addition to its original programming, WHFC also carries several nationally syndicated shows, including [NPR](/source/NPR)'s *[Latino USA](/source/Latino_USA)* and *[Jazz at Lincoln Center](/source/Jazz_at_Lincoln_Center)*, the *[WoodSongs Old-Time Radio Hour](/source/WoodSongs_Old-Time_Radio_Hour)*, the *[Putumayo World Music Hour](/source/Putumayo_World_Music_Hour)*, *[Acoustic Cafe](/source/Acoustic_Cafe)*, and *[Travel with Rick Steves](/source/Rick_Steves)*, among others. It was the first station in Maryland to carry the Moody Radio Network's *[In the Studio with Michael Card](/source/Michael_Card)*.

From midnight to 7AM, the station broadcasts a mix of new age, contemporary instrumental, and lite jazz music, called *The Night Shift*.

Early in 2008, Ed McBride, a veteran of Baltimore radio and native of [Derry](/source/Derry), [Northern Ireland](/source/Northern_Ireland), joined the volunteer staff of WHFC with his program *Reflections of Ireland* which had previously aired on [WTMD](/source/WTMD) prior to that station's format change in 2006. *Reflections of Ireland* is the third [Irish](/source/Irish_music)- or Celtic-based program in the station's lineup, joining WHFC's *The Pub* and the syndicated *[Celtic Connections](/source/WSIU_(FM))*.[2]
