'''VoxForge''' is a [free](/source/Free_software) [speech corpus](/source/speech_corpus) and [acoustic model](/source/Acoustic_Model) repository for [open source](/source/open_source) [speech recognition](/source/speech_recognition) engines.

VoxForge was set up to collect transcribed speech to create a free [GPL](/source/GNU_General_Public_License) speech corpus in order to be uses with open source speech recognition engines. The speech audio files will be 'compiled' into acoustic models for use with open source speech recognition engines such as [Julius](/source/Julius_(software)), [ISIP](/source/ISIP), and [Sphinx](/source/CMU_Sphinx) and [HTK](/source/HTK_(software)) (note: HTK has distribution restrictions).

VoxForge has<ref>[http://www.voxforge.org/home/forums/message-boards/acoustic-model-discussions/librivox-data Forum post on voxforge.org]</ref> used [LibriVox](/source/LibriVox) as a source of audio data since 2007.
