# Volochanka

**Volochanka** (Russian: Волоча́нка) is a [rural locality](/source/Types_of_inhabited_localities_in_Russia) (a settlement) under the administrative jurisdiction of the [district town](/source/Town_of_district_significance) of [Dudinka](/source/Dudinka) in [Taymyrsky Dolgano-Nenetsky District](/source/Taymyrsky_Dolgano-Nenetsky_District) of [Krasnoyarsk Krai](/source/Krasnoyarsk_Krai), [Russia](/source/Russia).[1] It is located on the [Kheta River](/source/Kheta_River) in the [Taymyr Peninsula](/source/Taymyr_Peninsula). Population: 530 people (2010 est.).[2]

## History

In 1932, native leaders of three nationalities, including the Dolgan and Yakuts, started a civil uprising in Volochanka against the Bolsheviks; twenty Party workers were killed and many others wounded in the event.[3][4]

## Demographics

The inhabitants include representatives of Taymyr, [Dolgans](/source/Dolgans), and [Nganasan](/source/Nganasan_people) indigenous peoples.

## Infrastructure

The settlement has a boarding school, kindergarten, district hospital, rural cultural center, a library, a branch of the Federal Postal Service, Department of "Telecommunications", and weather station.
