The '''Vodla''' ({{Langx|ru|Водла}}, {{Langx|fi|Vodlajoki}}) is a river in the south-east of [Republic of Karelia](/source/Republic_of_Karelia), [Russia](/source/Russia). The town of [Pudozh](/source/Pudozh) is located along Vodla. The river is formed at the confluence of the rivers Sukhaya Vodla and Vama, two outflows of the [Lake Vodlozero](/source/Lake_Vodlozero), a large freshwater lake in the southeastern part of Karelia.<ref>{{GSEn|005751|Водла}}</ref> It is {{convert|149|km}} long, and has a [drainage basin](/source/drainage_basin) of {{convert|13700|km2}}.<ref name=gvr>{{GVR|150832|Река ВОДЛА}}</ref> After rising in Lake Vodlozero, the river flows south before turning west into [Lake Onega](/source/Lake_Onega), Europe's second largest lake. From there, the 224-kilometer river [Svir](/source/Svir) connects Lake Onega with [Lake Ladoga](/source/Lake_Ladoga). The Vodla's water is soft and humic.<ref name="Vodla River">{{cite book|last=Tockner|first=Klement|title=Rivers of Europe|date=31 January 2009|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=GDmX5XKkQCcC&dq=Vodla+River&pg=PT1059|publisher=Academic Press|isbn=9780080919089|access-date=11 March 2013|display-authors=etal}}</ref>
