**Vladislav Sergeyevich Polyashov** (alt. spelling: **Poliashov**; [Russian](/source/Russian_language): Владислав Сергеевич Поляшов; born 4 April 1995)[1] is a Russian [artistic gymnast](/source/Artistic_gymnastics). He is a [2019 World](/source/2019_World_Artistic_Gymnastics_Championships) champion and [2018 World](/source/2018_Artistic_Gymnastics_World_Championships) silver medalist in the team competition. Individually, he is the [2019 European Games](/source/2019_European_Games) all-around bronze medalist and the [2019 European Championships](/source/2019_European_Artistic_Gymnastics_Championships) pommel horse bronze medalist. He competed at the [2020 Summer Olympics](/source/2020_Summer_Olympics).

## Gymnastics career

Polyashov began gymnastics when he was five years old.[2] He won a silver medal with the Russian team at the [2012 Junior European Championships](/source/2012_European_Men's_Artistic_Gymnastics_Championships).[3]

Polyashov was an alternate for the [2016 Summer Olympics](/source/2016_Summer_Olympics) team.[4] At the 2017 [Summer Universiade](/source/Summer_Universiade), Polyashov won a team bronze[5] and a horizontal bar silver.[6]

Polyashov won the all-around bronze medal at the [2018 Russian Championships](/source/2018_Russian_Artistic_Gymnastics_Championships).[7] At the [2018 World Championships](/source/2018_World_Artistic_Gymnastics_Championships) in Doha, Qatar, he was the alternate on the Russian team that won the silver medal.[4][8] He won the silver medal in the all-around at the [2019 Russian Championships](/source/2019_Russian_Artistic_Gymnastics_Championships).[4]

Polyashov won a gold medal on the parallel bars at the [2019 Baku World Cup](/source/2019_FIG_Artistic_Gymnastics_World_Cup_series)– the first [FIG World Cup](/source/Artistic_Gymnastics_World_Cup) medal of his career.[9] Then at the Doha World Cup, he won the silver medal behind the reigning World champion, [Zou Jingyuan](/source/Zou_Jingyuan).[10] At the 2019 European Championships, he won a bronze medal on the pommel horse behind [Max Whitlock](/source/Max_Whitlock) and [Cyril Tommasone](/source/Cyril_Tommasone).[11] He then represented [Russia at the 2019 European Games](/source/Russia_at_the_2019_European_Games) and won the all-around bronze medal behind teammate [David Belyavskiy](/source/David_Belyavskiy) and Ukraine's [Oleg Verniaiev](/source/Oleg_Verniaiev).[12] He was the alternate for the Russian team that won the gold medal at the [2019 World Championships](/source/2019_World_Artistic_Gymnastics_Championships).[13] After the World Championships, he competed at the Cottbus World Cup and won the parallel bars bronze medal.[14]

At the [2020 Melbourne World Cup](/source/2020_FIG_Artistic_Gymnastics_World_Cup_series), Polyashov won a gold medal on the parallel bars.[15] He finished second in the parallel bars qualifications at the Baku World Cup, but the finals were canceled due to the start of the [COVID-19 pandemic](/source/COVID-19_pandemic).[16]

Polyashov won the parallel bars title at the [2021 Russian Championships](/source/2021_Russian_Artistic_Gymnastics_Championships).[17] He was selected for one of the [Russian Olympic Committee's](/source/Russian_Olympic_Committee_athletes_at_the_2020_Summer_Olympics) individual spots at the [2020 Summer Olympics](/source/2020_Summer_Olympics).[18] He competed on the pommel horse and the parallel bars but did not advance beyond the qualification round.[19]

In 2022, the [International Gymnastics Federation](/source/International_Gymnastics_Federation) (FIG) banned Russian athletes from international competition.[20] At the [2024 BRICS Games](/source/Gymnastics_at_the_2024_BRICS_Games), he won a gold medal on the pommel horse,[21] and he won a silver medal on the parallel bars to teammate [Daniel Marinov](/source/Daniel_Marinov).[22] Russian athletes were allowed to return to FIG competitions as [Authorised Neutral Athletes](/source/Authorised_Neutral_Athletes) given they met the neutrality criteria, and Polyashov's application was approved in 2025.[23]
