The **Vlach National Party**[1][2][3] ([Romanian](/source/Romanian_language): *Partia Neamului Rumânesc* or *Partidul Neamului Românesc*, **PNR**; [Serbian](/source/Serbian_language): Влашка народна странка, [romanized](/source/Romanization_of_Serbian): *Vlaška narodna stranka*, **VNS**), formerly known as the **Vlach Democratic Party of Serbia**[4][a] until 2013,[5] is a [political party](/source/List_of_political_parties_in_Serbia) in [Serbia](/source/Serbia) representing ethnic [Vlachs](/source/Vlachs_of_Serbia). The leader of the party is [Predrag Balašević](/source/Predrag_Bala%C5%A1evi%C4%87),[6] who identifies the Vlachs of the [Timok Valley](/source/Timok_Valley) as [Romanians](/source/Romanians) and requests minority rights for the Romanian minority in the Timok Valley.[7][8]

## History

The Vlach National Party was founded in 2004. It was created with the goal of preserving Vlach/Timok Romanian culture and identity in Serbia.[9][10] The party participated in the [2020 Serbian parliamentary elections](/source/2020_Serbian_parliamentary_election) in a coalition with the [Liberal Democratic Party](/source/Liberal_Democratic_Party_(Serbia)) and other ethnic minority parties.[11] It cooperated with the [United for the Victory of Serbia](/source/United_for_the_Victory_of_Serbia) coalition during the [2022 local elections](/source/2022_Serbian_local_elections).[12]

The party collaborates with the [Alliance for the Union of Romanians](/source/Alliance_for_the_Union_of_Romanians).[13]
