The '''Viterbese''' or {{langx|it|'''Grigio Viterbese'''|italic=no}} is an Italian [breed](/source/list_of_donkey_breeds) of [donkey](/source/donkey) from the [Lazio](/source/Lazio) region of central Italy.<ref name=dad/> It is particularly associated with the town and [province](/source/provinces_of_Italy) of [Viterbo](/source/province_of_Viterbo) from which it takes its name, and also with the [Monti della Tolfa](/source/Monti_della_Tolfa) and the town of [Allumiere](/source/Allumiere) in the [province of Rome](/source/province_of_Rome); for this reason it may sometimes be known as the '''Asino di Allumiere'''. In 2007 it was reported by the [Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations](/source/Food_and_Agriculture_Organization_of_the_United_Nations) as extinct.{{r|barb|p=70}} In 2012 it was added to the list of autochthonous donkey breeds of limited distribution recognised by the [Ministero delle Politiche Agricole Alimentari e Forestali](/source/Ministero_delle_Politiche_Agricole_Alimentari_e_Forestali), the Italian ministry of agriculture and forestry.{{r|aia|p=25|news}} A total population of 153 head was reported in the same year.{{r|dad}}
