# Visual Bible

The **Visual Bible**, also **Visual Bible Project** is the name used by two distinct projects to film, verbatim, books of the [New Testament](/source/New_Testament).

The first Visual Bible project produced *[The Visual Bible: Matthew](/source/The_Visual_Bible:_Matthew)* (1993) and *[The Visual Bible: Acts](/source/The_Visual_Bible:_Acts)* (1994) starring [Italian](/source/Italians)-[American](/source/Americans) actor [Bruce Marchiano](/source/Bruce_Marchiano) as [Jesus](/source/Jesus). Both films followed the [New International Version](/source/New_International_Version) word for word in the [English](/source/English_language) version, and vernacular [Bibles](/source/Bible) in versions dubbed into [Spanish](/source/Spanish_language), [Cantonese](/source/Cantonese) and [Mandarin](/source/Mandarin_Chinese).

The second Visual Bible project produced *[The Gospel of John](/source/The_Gospel_of_John_(film))* narrated by [Christopher Plummer](/source/Christopher_Plummer) and starring [Scottish](/source/Scottish_People)-[Peruvian](/source/Peruvians) actor [Henry Ian Cusick](/source/Henry_Ian_Cusick) as [Jesus](/source/Jesus). The film followed the text of the [Good News Bible](/source/Good_News_Bible).[1][2][3]
