'''Viscount Rhondda''', of [Llanwern](/source/Llanwern) in the [County of Monmouth](/source/Monmouthshire_(historic)), was a title in the [Peerage of the United Kingdom](/source/Peerage_of_the_United_Kingdom).<ref>{{London Gazette |issue=30764 |date=25 June 1918 |page=7484}}</ref> It was created on 19 June 1918 for the Welsh businessman and [Liberal](/source/Liberal_Party_(UK)) [politician](/source/politician) [David Alfred Thomas, 1st Baron Rhondda](/source/David_Alfred_Thomas%2C_1st_Viscount_Rhondda), with special remainder to his daughter [Margaret](/source/Margaret_Haig_Thomas%2C_2nd_Viscountess_Rhondda) and her heirs male. Thomas had already been created '''Baron Rhondda''', of Llanwern in the County of Monmouth, on 28 January 1916, with normal remainder to the heirs male of his body.<ref>{{London Gazette |issue=29454 |date=28 January 1916 |page=1126}}</ref> The barony became extinct on his death in 1918, whereas he was succeeded in the viscountcy according to the special remainder by his daughter Margaret.
