**Virgil Vilela Gomis** (born 16 April 1999) is a French professional [footballer](/source/Association_football) who plays as a [forward](/source/Forward_(association_football)) for [GSI Pontivy](/source/GSI_Pontivy)

He came through the [FC Mantois](/source/FC_Mantois_78) academy he joined the youth academy of [Nottingham Forest](/source/Nottingham_Forest_F.C.), where he signed professional terms in 2018. Gomis failed to make a single first team appearance for the Reds and was loaned out to [Braintree Town](/source/Braintree_Town_F.C.), [Notts County](/source/Notts_County_F.C.), [Macclesfield Town](/source/Macclesfield_Town_F.C.) and [Grimsby Town](/source/Grimsby_Town_F.C.) before being released in 2021. He recently had a short spell with [Paris FC B](/source/Paris_FC).

## Career

### Nottingham Forest

After three seasons with the [Nottingham Forest](/source/Nottingham_Forest_F.C.) academy, Gomis joined [National League](/source/National_League_(division)) side [Braintree Town](/source/Braintree_Town_F.C.) on a one-month loan on 31 October 2018, where he scored on his debut with the club.[2] On 31 January 2019, Gomis again moved on loan, this time to Forest's city rivals [Notts County](/source/Notts_County_F.C.), where he would remain for the rest of the 2018-19 season.[3]

On 9 August 2019, Gomis joined [League Two](/source/EFL_League_Two) side [Macclesfield Town](/source/Macclesfield_Town_F.C.) on loan for the season.[4] He scored his first goal for Macclesfield in an [EFL Cup](/source/EFL_Cup) tie against [Blackpool](/source/Blackpool_F.C.) on 13 August 2019.[5] Gomis was recalled from his loan early by Nottingham Forest on 3 January 2020.[6]

On 16 October 2020, Gomis joined [Grimsby Town](/source/Grimsby_Town_F.C.) on a season-long loan.[7][8] On 5 January 2021, Grimsby decided to terminate his loan prematurely following only six first team appearances across all competitions.[9]

Following the 2020-21 season, Gomis was not listed on Forest's retained player list.[10]

### Return to France

Gomis appeared for [Paris FC](/source/Paris_FC)'s [Championnat National 3](/source/Championnat_National_3) reserve team in September 2021.[11]

In 2023, Gomis signed for French regional side Pouzages Bocage FC.[12]
