Virgen de Chapi FC was founded on October 22, 1992. The club participated in the [1996 Segunda División Peruana](/source/1996_Segunda_Divisi%C3%B3n_Peruana), but was relegated the same year.

The club returned to the [Peruvian Segunda División](/source/Peruvian_Segunda_Divisi%C3%B3n), and played from [1998 Segunda División Peruana](/source/1998_Segunda_Divisi%C3%B3n_Peruana) until [2005](/source/Segunda_Divisi%C3%B3n_Peruana_2005), when it was relegated to the [Copa Perú](/source/Copa_Per%C3%BA).
