# Verreau Bay

The **Verreau Bay** is a freshwater body located in the northeast part of [Gouin Reservoir](/source/Gouin_Reservoir), in the territory of the town of [La Tuque](/source/La_Tuque), in the administrative region of the [Mauricie](/source/Mauricie), in the [province](/source/Provinces_and_territories_of_Canada) of [Quebec](/source/Quebec), in Canada.[1]

## Toponymy

The term "Verreau" constitutes a surname of French origin. Formerly, this body of water was designated "Lac Nemiscaioui".[2]

The toponym "Baie Verreau" was made official on December 5, 1968, by the [Commission de toponymie du Québec](/source/Commission_de_toponymie_du_Qu%C3%A9bec), i.e. when this organization was created.[2]
