**Vera E. R. Tax** (born 8 February 1972) is a Dutch politician of the [Labour Party](/source/Labour_Party_(Netherlands)) (PvdA) who served as a [Member of the European Parliament](/source/Member_of_the_European_Parliament) (MEP) between 2019 and 2024.[1]

## Political career

Tax was elected to the [European Parliament](/source/European_Parliament) [in May 2019](/source/2019_European_Parliament_election). In parliament, she served on the [Committee on Transport and Tourism](/source/Committee_on_Transport_and_Tourism). Starting in 2021, she was part of the Parliament's delegation to the [Conference on the Future of Europe](/source/Conference_on_the_Future_of_Europe).[2] In addition to her committee assignments, Tax was part of the Parliament's [Delegation for relations with South Africa](/source/European_Parliament_Delegation_for_relations_with_South_Africa).[3] She was also a member of the URBAN Intergroup[4] and of the [European Parliament Intergroup on LGBT Rights](/source/European_Parliament_Intergroup_on_LGBT_Rights).[5]

Tax did not run for [re-election in June 2024](/source/2024_European_Parliament_election_in_the_Netherlands), and her term ended on 15 July 2024.[1][6]
