'''Vaughan Inlet''' ({{coord|65|02|15|S|61|36|00|W|display=inline,title}}) is an inlet approximately {{convert|10|mi}} long and {{convert|7.2|mi}} wide between the coastal point formed by [Whiteside Hill](/source/Whiteside_Hill) to the southwest and [Shiver Point](/source/Shiver_Point) to the northeast, on [Oscar II Coast](/source/Oscar_II_Coast) in [Graham Land](/source/Graham_Land), [Antarctica](/source/Antarctica). Its head is fed by [Evans Glacier](/source/Evans_Glacier_(Graham_Land)), [Green Glacier](/source/Green_Glacier), [Hektoria Glacier](/source/Hektoria_Glacier) and [Brenitsa Glacier](/source/Brenitsa_Glacier).

The inlet coincides with the southeast part of the ice-covered feature photographed from the air by Sir [Hubert Wilkins](/source/Hubert_Wilkins), December 20, 1928, to which he applied the name "Hektoria Fiords" after the whaling factory ship ''Hektoria'', which transported his expedition to [Deception Island](/source/Deception_Island). The nature of the feature was altered, revealing open water, by the retreat of the lower parts of [Hektoria](/source/Hektoria_Glacier), [Green](/source/Green_Glacier) and [Evans Glacier](/source/Evans_Glacier_(Graham_Land))s, which followed the calving of the [Larsen Ice Shelf](/source/Larsen_Ice_Shelf) in the area in March 2002.

The inlet was named by [UK-APC](/source/UK-APC) in 2008 after David G. Vaughan, Honorary Professor of Geography, [Swansea University](/source/Swansea_University); [BAS](/source/British_Antarctic_Survey) [Principal Investigator](/source/Principal_investigator) 1999–2008; BAS glaciologist, 1986–99, who has been in the forefront of investigations into the movement and break-up of the [Antarctic ice sheet](/source/Antarctic_ice_sheet).<ref>[https://data.aad.gov.au/aadc/gaz/scar/display_name.cfm?gaz_id=136792 Vaughan Inlet.] [SCAR](/source/Scientific_Committee_on_Antarctic_Research) [Composite Antarctic Gazetteer](/source/Composite_Antarctic_Gazetteer).</ref>
