'''Valtesse''', located at {{Coord|45|42|57|N|9|40|05|E|type:city}}, is a [quarter](/source/quartiere) of the city of [Bergamo](/source/Bergamo) in the north part of the city between the hill of Città Alta and [Maresana Hill](/source/Maresana_Hill).<ref name="Rampoldi 1834" /> The population is approximately 10,000.

Valtesse was a part of the fourth [circoscrizione](/source/circoscrizione) (administrative unit of the city),<ref name="Casti 2004" /> and is divided into two [Roman Catholic](/source/Roman_Catholic) [parish](/source/parish)es: Sant'Antonio da Padova and San Colombano.<ref name="Ettore" /> Valtesse borders with the borough of [Valverde, Bergamo](/source/Valverde%2C_Bergamo), [Conca Fiorita](/source/Conca_Fiorita), [Monterosso](/source/Monterosso%2C_Bergamo) and the municipality of [Ponteranica](/source/Ponteranica).

Composer [Gaetano Donizetti](/source/Gaetano_Donizetti) was buried in the cemetery of Valtesse in 1848, before his body was transferred to Bergamo's [Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore](/source/Santa_Maria_Maggiore%2C_Bergamo) in 1875.<ref name="Cassaro 2009" />
