# Validamycin

**Validamycin** is an [antibiotic](/source/Antibiotic) and [fungicide](/source/Fungicide) produced by *[Streptomyces hygroscopicus](/source/Streptomyces_hygroscopicus)*. An inhibitor of [trehalase](/source/Trehalase),[1] validamycin is used for the control of [sheath blight of rice](/source/Sheath_blight_of_rice) and damping-off of cucumbers.
