The '''Val Nure''' is the valley of the [Nure](/source/Nure) river, a tributary of the [Po](/source/Po_river). The valley lies almost entirely in the [Province of Piacenza](/source/Province_of_Piacenza), in the [Emilia-Romagna](/source/Emilia-Romagna) region of Italy. It forms part of the Comunità Montana Valli del Nure e dell'Arda.

==Geography==
The Val Nure is approximately {{convert|75|km|0|abbr=off}} long, and runs from south-west to north-east. The source of the Nure is at the [Lago Nero](/source/Lago_Nero_(Piacenza)). It runs into the Po about {{convert|10|km|0|abbr=on}} east of Piacenza, close to Roncarolo, a [frazione](/source/frazione) of the [comune](/source/comune) of [Caorso](/source/Caorso). The valley lies between the [Val d'Arda](/source/Val_d'Arda) to the east, the [Valle del Ceno](/source/Valle_del_Ceno) to the south-east, the [Val d'Aveto](/source/Val_d'Aveto) to the south-west and the [Val Trebbia](/source/Val_Trebbia) to the west.

The Val Nure lies in the [Colli Piacentini](/source/Colli_Piacentini), or "hills of Piacenza", wine-growing region. Colli Piacentini Valnure is a ''[Denominazione di Origine Controllata](/source/Denominazione_di_Origine_Controllata)'' white wine made in the comuni of [Ponte dell'Olio](/source/Ponte_dell'Olio), [San Giorgio Piacentino](/source/San_Giorgio_Piacentino) and [Vigolzone](/source/Vigolzone) from [Malvasia di Candia aromatica](/source/Malvasia_di_Candia_aromatica), [Ortrugo](/source/Ortrugo) and [Trebbiano Romagnolo](/source/Trebbiano_Romagnolo) grape varieties.<ref name=vino/>

In [feudal](/source/Feudalism) times control of the valley was disputed between the Anguissola, Camia, Malaspina and Nicelli families.<ref name=storia/> In the early 17th century it passed into the hands of [Ottavio Farnese](/source/Ottavio_Farnese_(1598%E2%80%931643)).<ref name=trecc/> There are some eighty castles and fortifications in the valley, among them the Castello di Riva at Ponte dell'Olio, and the castles of Altoè, of Grazzano Visconti, of Paderna, of [Podenzano](/source/Podenzano) and of Vigolzone.
