**Uzel** (French pronunciation: [\[yzɛl\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA/French); or Uzel-près-l'Oust[3]) is a [commune](/source/Communes_of_France) in the [Côtes-d'Armor](/source/C%C3%B4tes-d'Armor) [department](/source/Departments_of_France) in [Brittany](/source/Brittany_(administrative_region)) in northwestern [France](/source/France). It is about 100 km (62 mi) west-northwest of [Rennes](/source/Rennes) and 15 km (9.3 mi) north-northwest of [Loudéac](/source/Loud%C3%A9ac).

The old school, in the centre of Uzel, was the scene of torture and killings by the Nazis and by the [collaborationist](/source/Collaborationist) [Bezen Perrot](/source/Bezen_Perrot), in 1944.
