The team was founded in 2014 by Nicholas Mkhize.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://northcoastcourier.co.za/87882/uthongathi-fc-prepared-conquer-nfd/|title=Uthongathi prepared to conquer nfd|publisher=northcoastcourier.co.za|access-date=2020-02-28}}</ref> They won the [2016–17 ABC Motsepe League](/source/2016%E2%80%9317_SAFA_Second_Division) and gained promotion to the [National First Division](/source/National_First_Division) via a 1-0 play-off victory in the final against Super Eagles FC. The club was sold prior to the start of the [2023–24 National First Division](/source/2023%E2%80%9324_National_First_Division).
