The '''usage''' (or '''use''') '''of Paris''' was the [liturgical usage](/source/Use_(liturgy)) of any of the churches and monasteries of [medieval Paris](/source/medieval_Paris), especially as adopted for usage outside Paris. The most important usage was that of the cathedral, [Notre-Dame de Paris](/source/Notre-Dame_de_Paris). The usages of the itinernant [royal court](/source/French_court) and of the [Burgundian court](/source/Burgundian_State) followed that of Notre-Dame with slight variations. The usage of the royal chapel of [Sainte-Chapelle](/source/Sainte-Chapelle) was also based on that of Notre-Dame, although significant differences had emerged by 1471. It was the basis for the usage of the various [Saintes-Chapelles](/source/Saintes-Chapelles) founded throughout the kingdom.<ref name=Haggh>Barbara Haggh, "Binchois and Sacred Music at the Burgundian Court", in Andrew Kirkman and Dennis Slavin (eds.), ''Binchois Studies'' (Oxford University Press, 2000), pp. 11–25, at 12–14.</ref>

The term {{lang|la|horae ad usum Parisiensem}} refers to a [book of hours](/source/book_of_hours) following one of these usages. [John, Duke of Berry](/source/John%2C_Duke_of_Berry), commissioned at least two such books:

*[Petites Heures du Duc de Berry](/source/Petites_Heures_du_Duc_de_Berry)
*{{ill|Grandes Heures du Duc de Berry|fr|Les Grandes Heures du duc de Berry}}
